2012 Giant Anthem Advanced SL0

The Dually was my weapon of choice for the majority of 2012. This bike took a lot of punishment and handled it with ease. I rode it mainly in XCO, XCM and Multi-Lap endurance races. The bike was spec’d down a little with XT wheels and X0 running gear in stead of the usual Shimano XTR.

I loved the SRAM gear, it was so crisp! I could sprint out of transition dropping through the gears under load with no trouble at all, it sounds so good! snap-snap-snap.

My riding style in early 2012 was probably not as refined so i opted for the super tough XT rims. Back then, I would class myself as a bit of a bomber who liked to ride fast and straight. Why pick clean lines when your dually just eats up the bumps allowing you to maintain poise and speed! I really needed a super tough bike with strong wheels. The Anthem was it! It also maintained the light weight and race geometry. I had some great results on this rig including 2nd place at 2012 Capital Punishment (Open Category), 1st place at the 2012 Highland Fling (Vets Category) and 3rd in the 50km Australian National Marathon Championships.
